Ride groups: Lime only (the old slow yellow) Ratings - Technical: 3/10 Hills: 4/10 Distance: 41km
Starting From: Rietvlei Zoo Farm Starting Time: 07:30 for 08:00 Ride Description: The basic route is fast, flat and non-technical on sandy jeep track and single track out from Brackendowns, to the Kliprivier which we cross on the outgoing and return legs over weirs (no wet river crossings). Once over the Kliprivier, you ride a subset of what the Feral ride does however you do not ride Wattle Grove i.e. no serious hills. The ride is similar in difficulty to the Midrand to Irene Lime Group ride, for those who did it. This ride is not for beginners or green level riders - it is for those who can ride this distance but find the yellow group pace a little high (i.e. you must be able to ride this route at an average speed of about 12km/h). Many of you have participated in the Lime group Brackenhurst rides before and will know the requirements. This lime group is NOT guaranteed - you have to send me an email indicating you will attend with your cell phone number before Thursday please and if there are insufficient riders attending on Friday I will phone you to cancel the ride group. If I do not phone, the ride is on i.e. there are more than 6 riders. Please do not say you are coming and you don't ... riders left on the day with too few participants will not be able to tag along with the Feral ride groups. Directions: Ride the N3 through Gilloolys interchange. Near Alberton, take the N12 westwards (to the right) . Then take the R59 Vereniging southwards (to the left) . Drive 5km and take the Swartkoppies offramp. Turn right across the highway and drive 3.4 km and turn right into Rietvlei Zoo Farm. Park in the fieldnear The Cycle Hub bike shop. There are no parking or entry fees because we are not riding inside Rietvlei.
