Starting From: Groenkloof parking lot Starting Time: 7h30 for 8h00
Ride Description: The ride will comprise part of the FPC Marathon route as well as added bits of juicy single tracks and jeep track. THEN test your handling skills and fitness on 2 mighty technical and rocky singletrack uphills – sure to blow the cobwebs out your lungs ! We will also be riding along a hiking trail that flows like the Zambezi in Summer, rocky, but oh so beautiful to ride. If you have not ridden at Groenkloof Nature Reserve, this one is a must and has lots of variety to hit the ‘sweet spot’. At a distance of 25 km, this one is do-able for most riders, so come and join us!. Beginner riders will have plenty to do on the easier routes. NB: Groenkloof has a R18.20 entry fee which club members and visitors will need to pay at the entrance gate!! Change is a big issue so bring the exact amount or give them R20.00 otherwise it will take you some time getting through the entrance gate. Non members @ an additional R20.00 per rider.
Directions: The Nature Reserve is reached via the entrance to the Fountains Valley Resort. From Kempton Park - Follow the R21 to the Fountains Circle; take the Fountains/Centurion turn-off into Christina de Wit Road. After approximately 500 m you will pass the first entrance to Fountains Valley on your left. Please continue to alternative entrance to Groenkloof 800m further up on left. From Johannesburg - Take the Ben Schoeman (M1) motorway North to Pretoria and take the Eufees offramp (there are two - this one is just before Pretoria overlooking the Voortrekker Monument), At the T-Junction, turn right into Eufees Rd. Drive 500m under the Ben Schoeman and turn right into Christina de Wit Road (do not turn back onto the highway nor should you go into the entrance at Fountains). Now drive to the entrance to Groenkloof 800m on on your left.
