Club roots
JMBC has been part of Johannesburg MTB scene for decades, keeping the focus on regular riding, friendship and community.
More than a club. We’re a community.
Our Story
Founded in 1989, Johannesburg Mountain Bicycle Club (JMBC) has grown into a relaxed, community-driven club for riders who enjoy time on the trails.
Our focus is on social riding, confidence-building and creating regular opportunities for members to get outdoors, discover new routes and ride in good company. The club welcomes a mix of riders, from those building fitness to more experienced cyclists looking for consistent group rides.
JMBC continues to support Johannesburg’s mountain biking community through shared experiences, safe riding, trail awareness and the friendships that naturally grow when people ride together.

JMBC has been part of Johannesburg MTB scene for decades, keeping the focus on regular riding, friendship and community.
Members range from beginners to experienced riders, with groups that help everyone enjoy the ride at the right pace.
Sunday rides bring people together across Gauteng trails, with distance and pace options depending on the venue and group.

More than cycling
JMBC is not only about kilometres covered. It is about meeting people, exploring hidden green spaces around Johannesburg, enjoying coffee stops after a ride, improving skills and building confidence on the bike.
For many members, the club has become a place to escape the busy pace of city life, discover new trails and share memorable experiences with like-minded riders. From early morning rides and weekend adventures to special events and club outings, there is always an opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the sport together.
Over the years, JMBC has welcomed riders from all walks of life, creating a supportive environment where newcomers feel comfortable and experienced cyclists enjoy the camaraderie of riding with others who share their passion for mountain biking.
Many riders join for the weekly routes, but stay because of the people.
